The Perseverance Lodge 8261 Was opened on 3rd September 1950, and was under the control of

the Essex province, In 1981, the lodge then met in Halstead and due to the lack of members it was

decided to close the lodge.

In August 1981, Brothers J.A. Brown R.O.H., and J.T. Brown R.O.H ,P.G.P. Essex 1981, Decided

to apply to the Essex Province to Re - Open the Perseverance Lodge 8261, in Harwich under the

Control of the Essex Province, and on the 31st October 1981, the Perseverance Lodge was Re - Born

with a membership of ten Brothers, During 1982, another Five members were initiated and one

Affiliated Member Bringing the total registered members to 16,

In 1983 four more members were initiated, and in 1984 three more members were Initiated with

five new Affiliated members joining the lodge, In 1985 two members of the lodge became involved

with convention and saw the lodge involved with every convention from Southport in 1985 and are

still involved with convention including next year in Hull, in 2003, three of the lodge members were

involved with organising and fund raising for the Convention in Clacton On Sea Essex as Host Province.

1986 - 87 - 88 - 89 another seven uninitiated were initiated into the lodge, 1990 - 91, Saw another

eight unenlightened members Initiated into the lodge, in October of 1991, Bro Berni Davies R.O.H.,

Grand Minstrel for 1981, was introduced to the members of the Perseverance Lodge for the first time

and a friendship of some six years was born, Over the next 13 years a number of Grand Primos,

and officers of there respected years have been the guests of the Perseverance Lodge in the Essex

Province Thanks to Bro John Brown and his good lady Carol.

in the year of 2000, Saw the 50th Anniversary Celebration's with a number of events during the year

with well over Ł 7. 000. 00 being raised for various charities ( Is this a Record in 2000 the

Perseverance Lodge boasted three fully compliant lodge members that were all serving in the

office of Provincial Grand Primos in three different Provinces) Essex Ipswich and Doncaster Provinces.

In 2007 it was the wishes of the lodge members to move the control of the Perseverance Lodge from Essex

to Ipswich and District Province,

At this present time we have seven fully compliant lodge members that attend every week, with another

Eight members that turn up now and then.
